Joann Clingan Smith-Welk, 72, formerly of Littlestown, Pa., died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Gettysburg Hospital.
Born June 21, 1940, in Taneytown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Clingan and Mildred Harver Clingan Slick; and stepdaughter of the late George Slick. She was the wife of Larry I. Welk, of Gettysburg, Pa.
She had been a home health aide for Hanover VNA. She was a previous active auxiliary member of Harney VFW
Post 6918 for almost 20 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Tammy L. Smith-Garman, of Littlestown; a daughter-in-law, Peggy J. Smith, of Hanover, Pa.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Alt, of Westminster.
She was predeceased by first husband, Ellis G. Smith Sr.; sons Ellis G. Smith Jr. and Gregory K. Smith Sr.; and a grandson, Greg Smith Jr.
A memorial gathering will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at at Harney VFW, 5801 Conover Road, Taneytown.
