Louis W. Mielke Sr., 83, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Oct. 19, 1929, in Randallstown, he was the son of the late Carl Arthur Mielke and Anna Reichlin Mielke. He was the husband of Bonnie Mowen Mielke, his wife of 60 years.

He served in the Korean Conflict and received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge and United Nation Service Medal. He retired from Consolidated Engineering as a superintendent and carpenter with Concord Associates after 30 years.

He and his wife enjoyed farming and had a produce stand on Md. 27 at the end of the farm lane for many years. He enjoyed restoring their antique cars and belonged to the Chesapeake and Greater Baltimore Car Clubs since 1974.

He was a member of Wards Chapel United Methodist Church, American Legion Carroll Post No. 31 and the Carpenters Union No. 101.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons and daughters-in-law Louis W. Mielke Jr. and wife Linda, of Hampstead, and Gary W. Mielke Sr. and wife Gail, of Manchester; a daughter, Judy Mielke Wilson, of Sebring, Fla.; grandsons Gary W. Mielke Jr. and wife Heather, of Sykesville, Louis W. Mielke III and wife Amanda, of Finksburg, and David Mielke and wife Lacey, of New Windsor; granddaughter Ashley Mielke Wensil and husband Brian, of Westminster; and five great-granddaughters.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Terry Lynn Coroneos; a sister, Evelyn Gunther; and a brother, Carl Arthur Mielke Jr.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with his brother-in-law, the Rev. John Mowen officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Lake View Memorial Park.
