Vincent Edward Maggio Sr.

1922 - 2015

Vincent Edward Maggio, Sr., 93, of Union Bridge, died July 22, 2015 at his home. Born February 18, 1922 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Concetta Maranto Maggio. He was the husband of Geraldine E. Maggio whom he married February 10, 1944. Vince was the owner of Maggio and Sons Wholesale Produce Company. He served in the Army during WW2 with the 337th Infantry Division in Italy where he was awarded a Bronze Star medal for heroism. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church where he was a member of the Wisdom Club. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Council 3960, Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Liberty Post 22 American Legion in Randallstown. Vince was an active volunteer serving Communion at Carroll Lutheran Village. He enjoyed following the Orioles and the Baltimore Colts, only taking a few years to avidly accept the Ravens. Surviving in addition to his wife are children Sr. Barbara Maggio of Emmitsburg, Vincent Maggio and his wife Debbie of Ellicott City, Paul Maggio and his wife Bea of Union Bridge, and Joanne Matthews and her husband Phillip of Finksburg; sister Netta Eder of Catonsville; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter Gloria Maggio Little and by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. The family will receive friends on Friday from 3-5 & 7-9 pm at PRITTS FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster, where a Christian Wake Service will be held in the evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 12 Noon at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Officiating will be Father Jose Opaldo. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Rd., Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.
