Wendy Kay Wilhelm, 55, of Grand Bay, Ala., formerly of Carroll County, died Saturday, July 6, 2013, after a multi-year battle with breast cancer
Born Dec. 31, 1957, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Dorothy V. Wilhelm and the late John Robert Wilhelm, of Hampstead.
She was a 1975 graduate of North Carroll High School. She attended Maryland General School of Nursing and later received a Bachelor of science degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and graduated from Capital University of Integrative Medicine.
She was a licensed registered nurse, physical therapist and massage therapist. She was also a certified lymphedema therapist. She ran Wilhelm Physical Therapy in Westminster for years and later ran Foundational PT and Massage in Grand Bay. She placed a priority on continuing education and always put her patient's interests first. She relieved the pain of many with her hands.
She married Alan J. Fitzmorris in 1997, and they lived for a time in Catonsville, and then later in Waipahu, Hawaii, before relocating to Grand Bay in 2002.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are brother Jerry Lee Wilhelm, of Hanover, Pa., and sister Deborah Ann Wilhelm Gentzel, of Westminster; and godchild Matthew A. Gentzel, of Westminster.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. July 21 at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 16530 Trenton Church Road, Upperco.
