Judge Paul Barry Jones of Columbia passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at 10:11 a.m. at his home. He was 77. He was born July 8, 1936 in Danville, the son of the late Paul Bradshaw and Mabel Elizabeth Shipp Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, JoAnn Walker. Judge Paul Barry Jones served as Circuit Judge for 18 years for Adair, Casey, Cumberland and Monroe counties. He was District Judge for two years of Adair and Casey counties. He was an attorney for 20 years with Hurt & Jones Law Office and then Jones and Jones Law Office. He was also a retired farmer and a former instructor at Lindsey Wilson College. He was a graduate of Adair County High School, Georgetown College and Vanderbilt University Law School. He was a member of Columbia Masonic Lodge # 96 for over 50 years, member of Columbia Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years and also served as choir/music director. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathy Carter Jones of Columbia; one son, Barry Jones (and wife Patty) of Columbia; two daughters, Leslie King (and husband William) of Frankfort and Lynne Stinson (and husband Mark) of Auburn; seven grandchildren, Wesley Jones, Ashley Jones, Kelly Jones, Miranda Varner, Leann Martin, B.J. Stinson and Loren Stinson; two great-grandchildren, Anderson Varner and Billy Martin; and one niece, Kathy Walker Clarke of Colorado. Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 15, at 11 a.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Dr. Michael O'Neil officiating. Interment will be in Columbia Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 3 p.m. today (Wednesday, May 14) at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
