Eugene R. 'Pete' Tate August 11,1927-April 27, 2013 Eugene R. "Pete" Tate, 85, of Belleville, formerly of rural Centre Hall, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Valley View Haven in Belleville. He was born Aug. 11, 1927, at Spring Mills, a son of the late Richard Irvin and Ethel Harriet (Gentzel) Tate. On April 16, 1949, he married the former Minerva Ellen Neff, who resides at Valley View Haven in Belleville. He took a flying course to obtain a commercial license and flight instructor rating. He enjoyed giving airplane rides at the Grange Fair for years. Pete worked at Cerro Metals from 1946-1990, where he was a truck driver and laborer. He was a member of the Emmanuel Union UCC Church in Tusseyville , a member of the Civil Air Patrol, and a World War II Army veteran. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Deborah Sue Frazier (Larry), of Centre Hall; three sisters, Joan Shawver (Robert), Jean Gilmore (Tom), both of Centre Hall and Connie Saluter (Phil), of Florida; two grandchildren Brad (Stephanie) Frazier, of Stephens City, Va., and Meghan Frazier, of Harrisburg; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Rachel Frazier. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by two sisters, Inez M. Pecht and Irene E. Garbrick. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 226 S. Pennsylvania Avenue, Centre Hall and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the funeral home. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Emmanuel Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Valley View Nursing Home, 4207 E. Main Street, Belleville, PA 17001, or the Emmanuel Union Cemetery, 317 Airport Road, Centre Hall, PA 16828.
