Melvin Brown N. CHARLESTON - Melvin Michael "Mel" Brown, 53, of North Charleston, passed away May 15, 2013. Born in Charleston, he was the son of Dorothy Reynolds Brent and the late Otha Eugene Brown and husband to Kellie McGee Brown. Mel graduated from Berkeley High School in 1977 and completed the apprenticeship program at Robert Bosch Corporation. He was an employee with Bosch for over thirty years. Mr. Brown enjoyed working around the house on different projects, waterskiing, boating and loved to exercise. He is survived by his wife Kellie McGee Brown of the home; mother, Dorothy Brent and husband Charles of Goose Creek; three brothers, Brian T. Brown and wife Donna of Goose Creek, Kevin Brown and wife Lisa of Summerville and William Brent of North Carolina; mother-in-law, Frankie McGee of Charleston; father-in-law, Jack H. McGee and wife Eileen of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-law, Lynn McGee Cannon and husband Mark of Mississippi; brother-in-law, Jack McGee, II and wife Farah of North Carolina. Mel is also survived by seven nieces, two nephews and three great-nephews. Funeral service will be held Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL, 869 St. James Avenue. Burial will follow in Thornley Cemetery, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
