Norwood Gaites SWANSEA, SC - Reverend Norwood A. Gaites, 86, of Swansea, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at UniHealth Post Acute Care in Columbia. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm, Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Carter's Ford Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Gaites was born August 2, 1927 in Gaston and was a son of the late Beverly Ira Gaites and Olivia Lucas Gaites. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army and was a retired Minister, having served many churches in the state of South Carolina. He loved growing tomatoes, but especially loved sharing them with everyone. Reverend Gaites was a true man of God, who devoted his life to ministering to others through sharing God's word and giving anything he could to anyone in need. He is survived by: his wife, Ruby Nell Gaites of Swansea; children, Delora Fonda Gaites Williams of Swansea, Ruben Alger Gaites of Gilbert and Beverly Teno Gaites of Swansea; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Benjamin Paul Williams; and one grandchild. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1 until 2 at THE BRICE W.
