Sr. Chief Petty Officer James E. Joyner, U.S. Coast Guard (Ret.) BELLEVUE, NE - Graveside service for Sr. Chief Petty Officer James E. Joyner, U.S. Coast Guard (Ret.), 87, of Bellevue, Nebraska, with full military honors will be Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 2 p.m. at McCleod United Methodist Church Cemetery, Eastover, SC. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., August 31, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Mr. Joyner, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013. He was a retired teacher from Council Bluffs School. Mr. Joyner was a veteran of WWII. He also served in the Korea and Vietnam wars. He was a member of Harmony Masonic Lodge 17 in Arlington, VA; York Rite Life member in SC; OES #228, Hays, KS, Tangier Shrine; VFW and the American Legion. He is survived by his daughters, Micheline (Dane) Prescott of Greenville, SC, Kathleen Joyner Wood of Belleveu, NE, Karen (Robert) Julson of Cedar Rapids, IA, Susan (Roger) Lawrence of Moorehead City, NC, Marlena (Fred) Rowe of Havelock, NC and Marie Fulcher of Newport, NC; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edna Joyner, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
