Ward I. "Johnny" Johnson COLUMBIA, SC - Ward I. "Johnny" Johnson, 91, of Columbia, died Thursday, July 25, 2013. Born April 1, 1922 in Lucknow, SC he was a son of the late George W. and Clara Stokes Johnson. A US Navy veteran of WWII, Johnny worked for many years as a teacher in the Mt. Pleasant school system. Mr. Johnson is survived by his sister-in-law, Helen P. Johnson of Columbia ; nieces, Miriam Johnson of Atlanta, and Clara Ann Mackenzie (Jeff) of Holland, MI; nephew George Rocky Johnson of Berkeley Springs, WV; great-nieces, Bethany Johnson of Birmingham, AL, and Abbey Mackenzie of Holland MI; and great-nephew, Quinn Mackenzie of Holland, MI. In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his brother, George W. Johnson, Jr. The graveside service for Mr. Johnson will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery, 354 Old Camden Road, Bishopville, SC, with The Rev. Cecil L. Stevens and Pastor Steven Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
