Willie H. "Pete" Crowder JACKSONVILLE, FL - BMCM SW Willie H. "Pete" Crowder, USN-Ret., son of Sallie L. Berry and Will H. Crowder, was born in Nashville, TN on Nov. 5, 1945. He entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012. He was a graduate of Haynes High School, Class of 1964. In August 1964, he enlisted in the US Navy to pursue his childhood dream. He completed 27 years of honorable military service, attaining the highest enlisted ranking of Master Chief Petty Officer. His last duty assignment was that of Command Master Chief (CMC, Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commanding Officer) of the AEG's Cruiser , the USS Mobile Bay CG-53, home ported in Mayport, FL. Survivors include: a daughter, Stacey C. (Mario) Gethers; two grandchildren, Mario Gethers, Jr. and Rebecca A. Gethers all of Moncks Corner, SC; siblings, George A. (Mike) Berry, Freddie S. Berry, Flora L. Berry and Lucy E. (Missy) Johnson all of Nashville, TN; very close friend, La Rue Miller of Jacksonville, FL; other relatives and friends. The relatives and friends of BMCM SW Crowder are invited to attend his funeral services on Thursday, November 8, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at the O. Allen Gethers, Jr. Memorial Chapel, GETHERS FUNERAL HOME INC., 200 Grace St., Moncks Corner, SC. Viewing will be on WEDNESDAY from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
