Alice was born on Sept. 6, 1917 in Chicago; she attended Roosevelt School, Oak Park-River Forest High School, and Rosary College (now Dominican University) where she earned her degree in library science. Later she attended Northwestern University and earned a degree in personnel administration. Granstrom and they lived in New England, Michigan, and New York before moving to Oak Park to retire. Mrs. Granstrom was an active volunteer. She volunteered for the Mary Bartelme Club, a residence for juvenile court wards, was a member of the West Suburban Hospital Auxiliary, and volunteered in libraries and hospitals in each place that she lived. She also wrote articles for these organizations and for many community bulletins. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert and her niece Betsy (William) Bahlau of Oak Park, IL.
