Obituary Condolences

Blaine Henry Loudin of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, died Monday March 4, 2013 of complications of pneumonia. He was 88 and had been a resident of Hilton Head since 1993 when he moved there from Wilmette, Illinois. He is survived by his second wife, Sue Witt, his three children (Philip Loudin of Boulder, Colorado, Beverly Loudin of Newton, Massachusetts and Stephen Loudin of Grayslake, Illinois) and his brother, Donald Loudin of New Bern, North Carolina. He also leaves four grandchildren; Hannah Loudin of Boulder and Nicholas, Sophia and Rachel Epstein of Newton. Mr. Loudin's first wife, Sally Newell Loudin, died in 2003. Mr. Loudin graduated from the Ohio State University with an engineering degree. He and his son Steve started Tricel Honeycomb in 1983; Mr. Loudin continued as the CEO until his death. He was a retired Major in the Army Air Force and served in the Pacific theater in World War II; he was a C-46 and C-47 transport aircraft pilot and flew over 50 missions. He continued to fly after he retired and was the proud owner of a Commander 112 aircraft. A memorial service is being held at Providence Presbyterian Church in Hilton Head on Friday, March 8 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his name to Providence Presbyterian Church or the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
