Elisha "Pops" Davis Jr. Obituary
Davis Jr., Elisha "Pops" Entered into mortal life on March 8, 1949 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Born to Lucille and Elisha Davis, Sr.. Pops was the second of six children. Preceding him in death was his father, Elisha Davis, Sr. Elisha peacefully entered into eternal life on Monday, January 6, 2014. Cherished memories of the heart will remain with his two children, Elisha Davis, III and Shanee Victoria Davis of Minneapolis, MN; two grandsons, Javaghn Kanye Alexander Bennett and Elisha Davis IV; loving mother, Lucille Riley of Merrillville; devoted brother, Melvin E. Davis of Merrillville; 4 doting sisters, JoAnn (Ben) Williams (Gary), Vernell Bradley (Merrillville), Sharon Haney (Gary) and Sheretta Riley-Bryant (Crown Point); 6 nieces; 5 nephews; 6 great-nieces; 12 great-nephews and 1 great-great-nephew whom he adored, as well as many cousins, family members and friends. He attended Edison High School in Gary and Malcom X College in Chicago where he majored in computer science. He was enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War as an expert marksman and paratrooper. He loved fishing and was a computer whiz. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Divinity Funeral Home, 3831 Main St., East Chicago, IN. Visitation two hours prior to service.
