Ernest Wojcik Obituary
Ernest Louis Wojcik, age 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather to Lia, uncle to his beloved niece, Sandi, and friend (we mean you John, Bob, Bob and Dan), passed away on December 21. He was born, raised and lived his entire life in Chicago, for the past 55 years in Edgebrook. As a young man, he was a natural athlete once recruited to play professional baseball with the Detroit Tigers organization at age 13. The youngest of four, including two sisters and a brother, he was closest to his brother, Norbert, who encouraged him to join the Air Force and to obtain an education at Northwestern University. He joined the Air Force in 1951, served four years, and then matriculated at Northwestern. In 1961, he completed his Northwestern law degree with the support of his wife, Mary Lou (nee Pisani), whom he married in 1958. Together they had four daughters: Marisa (John Koten), Elisa, Luana (David Ivanic) and Cristina (Tom Murray). The year he passed the bar exam (1961), he was hired by O'Brien and Hanrahan as a trial litigator. He remained at that firm, becoming a partner, until his retirement in 1997. Ernest always considered himself to be the luckiest man on the planet, spending his retirement years in Florida and Chicago, playing tennis (regularly trouncing friends, much younger men and his sons in law), swimming, watching the Blackhawks, traveling and sharing culinary adventures with Mary Lou. He read voraciously and was an almost daily presence at the public library. He was a lover of beauty, nature, and people, and he believed that love is the most important part of life. In remembrance donations may be made to Rainbow Hospice. www.rainbowhospice.org or the Parkinson Association of Illinois. www.parkinsonil.org. Funeral services were held in private.
