Frederick McCahey Obituary
Frederick Miller McCahey, 88, last surviving member of the third generation of the Miller Brewing Family. He is survived by his wife Sharon Wakefield McCahey, his children Fred Jr. ( Jennifer), Mary Claire, Norine, Jennie, Miles, Julie and Melinda (David), 7 grandchildren, 2 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.He was a graduate of Canterbury School, CT('43), and received his Bachelors Degree in Business at the University of Illinois. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Re-turning to New York, he became a member of the New York Stock Exchange, and a partner of Fahnestock & Co. He served on the Board of Directors of Frontier Airlines, Cablecom General , and Franklin Savings & Loan. He was the founder of the Family Helping Hands Foundation, and was knighted in the Holy Equestrian Order of the Sepulcher, and the Military and Hospital Order of St. Lazarus.He was appointed by Mayor Richard J. Daley as a director of the Metropolitan Fair and Exposition Authority (McCormick Place), He was an extensive world traveler, avid skier, hunter, and fly fisherman. He was a life member of the Military Order of the World Wars. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 8, 11 am until time of Mass at Noon, at St. Peters Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Rd., Geneva, Il. Internment private at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Evanston, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the will be appreciated. Arrangements handled by Leonard Memorial Home, Glen Ellyn (630-469-0032).
