George Borgo Obituary
George S. Borgo, age 88, of Plainfield, IL since 1956, was born September 12, 1925 in Chicago, IL and passed away peacefully on March 21, 2014 at Presence St Joseph Medical Center, Joliet. George is survived by his loving children, Richard Borgo, Robert (Eileen) Borgo, James Borgo and Kathleen Leach; his cherished grandchildren, Chris and Andrew Leach, Jack, Matt, Nick, Lisa and Jessie Borgo, and Beth (Josh) Jachna; his special great-granddaughter, Annabelle Joan Jachna; his dear sister, Marie Borgo Cioni and brother, Geno Borgo. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Joan M. Borgo in 2011; his parents, Peter Borgo and Giovanna Lovato Borgo Fungaro; his brothers, Louis Borgo and Brother Steve Borgo of the Scalabrian Order. Proud US Navy Veteran of WW II, Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Hooper Island, 1944-1946, and as a member of the occupying forces in Sasebo, Japan. He was an avid fisherman and patiently taught others to fish. He was a superb gardener and was world renowned for his tomatoes. He was also an excellent baker and his breads will be especially missed. For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to George's life, memorials may be directed to the or to the American Parkinson Disease Association to continue the battle against the disease in which his wife so bravely fought. Visitation Monday, March 24, 3:00 - 8:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Plainfield. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, March 25, 10:30 AM at St. Mary Immaculate Church, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield, IL 60544. Interment 2:30 PM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
