George Zuckerman Obituary
George Zuckerman of Chicago and St. Paul, MN crossed over to the spirit world from Scottsdale, AZ on Jan 9th of 2013. He was 85. The son of Louis and Agnes Zuckerman, born Oct 8th, 1927, George is reunited now with his brothers: Clyde, Donald, & Vincent ("Jimmy"). After graduating Lane Tech High, George served in WWII as an army radio transmitter, discharged honorably. He went on to graduate with honors in electrical engineering from Purdue University and then later earned a law degree at John Marshall Law School. George was hired immediately out of Purdue by Otis Elevator. Affectionately know as "Mr. Elevator" by architects and fellow engineers, his expertise was designing vertical transportation for many landmark buildings around the world. After retiring from Otis with over 30 years of service, George started his own elevator consulting firm with life-long friend, Ronald Zimbehl of Morristown, NJ, who predeceased him by 3 months. George was an accomplished, self-taught chef. His meals were legendary. He had a brilliant mind, a great love of literature, music, crossword puzzles, thoroughbred horses, and Beefeaters. He's survived by his greatest joy, his two children: son, Lee Zuckerman with Linh Vuong of Los Angeles and his daughter, Meghan Zuckerman of New York along with his sister, Jean Zuckerman of Chicago. A swell and caring guy, we love and miss you father. Family, friends, and co-workers join us in remembering George's career and life at www.georgezuckerman.com
