HELEN MARIE BOGAN Obituary
Helen Marie Bogan Helen Marie Bogan, 87, died on May 16, 2013 after a brief illness at the Mennonite Home in Lancaster, PA. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lucile Kornreich Klein. She lived most of her life in Clarendon Hills, Illinois, with her late husband Richard Waring Bogan. Helen and Dick were married for 60 years. A graduate of Northwestern University, Helen was primarily a homemaker. She loved books and reading; she was part of a small group that started the Clarendon Hills Public Library, where she volunteered, and she was a handbook binder for more than 25 years. Helen was a lifelong flyfisher, a sport she and her late husband enjoyed together. Helen is survived by two daughters: Elizabeth, wife of Thomas J. Gates, of Lancaster, PA, and Kathleen Bogan, wife of Daniel Whipple, of Nairobi, Kenya; a son, David B. Bogan, husband of Ann Mawicke, of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandsons: Matthew Gates of Kigali, Rwanda; Nathan Gates, husband of Leah, of Glen Burnie, Maryland; Jacob Whipple of Seattle, Washington; and Carl Whipple of New Jersey. She also is survived by two great-granddaughters, Isabel and Laurel Gates, and her sister Barbara Klockner, wife of James, of Madison, Wisconsin. In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was predeceased by her brother Robert Klein. A private family service will be held in the summer. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Helen's name may be made to the Clarendon Hills Public Library, 7 North Prospect Street, Clarendon Hills, IL 60514.
