James Roberts Obituary
Roberts, James H. "Jim" Long time resident of Evanston and Kenilworth, Illinois, died June 6, 2014 in Pasadena, California, at 89 years of age. Former husband of the late Charlotte Eilersgaard; husband of the late Madelon Hall; loving father of William (Ingrid) of Deerfield, Illinois, Judith Shrader (Edwin), Mark, Sally Lowman, Scott (Kelly), Stacey Reuter, Holly Hanes (Victor), all of California. He was the grandfather of 16 and the great-grandfather of 5; dear brother of Elizabeth R. Greene (Betty) of Evanston and the late Charles L. Roberts. He graduated from Evanston High School in 1942 and from Dartmouth College in 1948. He served in the 10th Mountain Division in WWII, where, along with other citations, he was awarded the Bronze Star for "Meritorious Service in Combat, 2/19/1945, and outstanding courage and devotion to duty" in Italy. After retiring from business, he worked as a para-educator in California's program for challenged high school boys. He was active in the Brotherhood of St. Andrews in the Episcopal Church, and with other outreach programs for the poor and homeless. His was a life of service, cheerfulness and loving kindness. Services were held in Pasadena on June 21, 2014.
