Obituary Condolences

Lorraine Ruth Richter, 88, a long-time resident of Wilmette, died Sept. 28 in Washington, DC. Mrs. Richter was born Nov. 10, 1923, on the South Side of Chicago to Ruth Marie and Edward George Anderson. She studied business administration at the Illinois Institute of Chicago and Northwestern University (1941-1946). After raising her young daughters Mrs. Richter earned in 1968 a bachelor's degree with distinction in psychology from Northwestern. She was an early master of information technology, collecting and analyzing data using mainframe computers for the American Hospital Association (AHA). She developed numerous AHA research reports over 11 years there (1968-1979), serving as director of the Department of Data Collection and manager of operations. She served on the Board of Directors of the Wilmette Parent Teachers Association and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Richter was an avid golfer and promoted the sport locally as a Board member of EWAC (the Evanston Women's Athletic Club) and Suburban Women's Golfers. She was also a long-time bridge enthusiast, playing the card game frequently with a group of friends known as the Crazy Eights. Her survivors include daughters Mary Richter Pazdan of Edison, NJ, and Nora Richter Greer of Washington, D.C. She survived her brother Edward George Anderson Jr. (1925-1973). A memorial service will be held Sat., Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1024 Lake Ave., Wilmette, IL. In lieu for flowers, she requested that donations be made to the , P.O. Box 96280, Washington, D.C., 20077.
