Dr. Lewis L. Weil died peacefully on April 25, 2014. Born in Chicago on June 13, 1923 to Lawrence and Hattye Weil, he was the youngest of their four children. A graduate of Senn High School, he was attending the U.of I. when, during World War II, he enlisted in the Army. During basic training, he met and married Eva Friedman. After training he was assigned to the Air Force division of the Army performing radar duty. He was sent to Guam where he was to war's end. After the war, Lewis went to dental school and graduated from the University of Illinois School of Dentistry in 1951. He served for many years on the Illinois Board of Dentistry. His work on the Board of Dental Examiners often took him out of state to administer exams to those seeking their dental licenses. Lewis held many elected offices within the dental community, including the ADA. He was a past-president of the Southwest Lion's Club, on the board of directors for several organizations and received many honors for his work and dedication to the community. After retirement, Lewis and Eva lived in Palos Hills, Il, Delray Beach, Fl. and Lisle, Il. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Eva, son Richard, sisters Roslyn and Sylvia and brother Robert. Surviving loved ones include his sons Lawrence and Frederick (Patricia).
