Marilyn Redfield Obituary
Redfield, Marilyn "Lyn" (nee Sims) passed away on Sunday, April 6th, 2014. Lyn was born July 17, 1933 to Lucy and Bryan Sims in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Grand Haven, Michigan. She earned a B.A. and M.A. in Education from Michigan State University in 1957. Lyn began her teaching career in Bloomfield Hills, MI. She was married to Bill Redfield in 1959 and moved to Lake Forest, IL. Lyn then began teaching at Walden Elementary School in Deerfield, Illinois where she taught for forty one years. Lyn and Bill have enjoyed restoring the house and gardens of the "House of the Four Winds" in Lake Forest, Illinois which culminated in receiving the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Award in 2012. Lyn was active in the Lake Forest Preservation Foundation, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. She enjoyed the opera and traveling with her husband, Bill, throughout the world visiting over 65 countries in her life. Lyn is survived by her husband Bill and numerous nieces and nephews.
