Robert James Agnes Sr. Obituary
icon Robert James Agnes Sr., 86, of Chicago, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2013 at his home at Merrill Gardens Assisted Living in Henderson, NV. He was born on November 19, 1926 in Chicago to Charles and May (Sweeney) Agnes. Robert (Bob) was married to the late Susan M. Agnes (Mago) from July 17, 1948 until her death on July 2, 1984. Those who knew them will remember what wonderful ballroom dancers they were. They are survived by their two children Cindy (Larry) Dybas and Robert (Suzanne) Agnes, granddaughters Sherry Dybas, Shannon (Chris) Kozak, Denise (Rob) Knierim, Brandy (Jason) Beisner, Tiffany (Jerry) Ostrowski and five great granddaughters. Robert was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy followed by a long 30 year career as president of S.E.I.U. Local 372. He also served as a union trustee for S.E.I.U. Local 25, member of the Board of Directors for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and following retirement, a libretti salesman along with his dear friend, the late Edward Warwick, at the Chicago Opera House. Robert is also survived by a sister, Marilyn Osborn, and sisters-in-law Lydia Agnes, Josephine Mago and Ginger Mago. He is predeceased by brothers Charles (Martha) Agnes and Frank (Lydia) Agnes, sisters Lorraine (Mike) Orrico and Dolores (Bud) Bork and brothers-in-law Frank (Josie) Mago and Michael (Ginger) Mago. In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. A memorial service and final internment will be at The Queen of Heaven Cemetery 1400 S.
