A Life Well Lived: BETHLENE HERMANSON Sept. 15, 1922-June 15, 2014 Our beloved mother, Bethlene Hermanson, passed away peacefully at home on June 15, 2014 surrounded by the love of her family. For 91 years she engaged life with a whole heart. Bethlene was full of determination and made the most of every opportunity that came her way. She was born on a farm near Greensburg, Kansas to Barney and Rose Nell Kinsall. She was raised on the prairies of Kansas, where at the age of 19 she earned a teaching credential. She taught High School for several years before meeting and falling in love with a handsome young Navy man (Pearl Harbor Survivor): Donald Lewis Hermanson. They enjoyed 64 years of married life, raising three children: Donald Jr. (Angie) Sacramento, Nancy Hermanson Lydon (Patrick) San Francisco, and Christy Fedorko (Bill) Chico. Her husband Don preceded her in death in 2010. Beth adored her children, her 11 grandchildren, and 21 great -grandchildren! She is also survived by her older sister and best friend Rose Marie Rowntree (Worth) of Lake Mary, Florida. Upon retirement from the Navy, Don and Beth moved to Chico in 1960 where Don received his credential teaching H.S. Mathematics. Beth was personal secretary to the Dean of Students at Chico State during that time. Don and Beth lived in the Bay Area from 1963-1980. They retired to Paradise Pines from 1980-2000. They happily lived in Chico for their remaining years. Bethlene enjoyed every part of life. Her family and friends were most important to her. She traveled the world over, yet always found her greatest joy to be surrounded by the ones she loved. Her hobbies included reading, writing, homemaking, and the great outdoors. She embraced life with optimism and joy. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, yet not forgotten! A gathering to celebrate Bethlene's life will be held July 21st (Mon.) in the Sierra Rm. at The Terraces; 2:00 P.M. The family wishes to thank the staff at The Terraces and The Inn for providing many years of loving care and comfort to Don and Beth. We also wish to thank Butte Home/Health Hospice for their care and concern. You are greatly appreciated. All friends are welcome to attend.
