DANIEL VALENTINE BLACKSTOCK (2/10/32-2/1/14) Memorial service to be held at St Johns the Evangelist Episcopal Church on Floral Avenue on Friday, February 7th at 2 p.m. Daniel Blackstock was born to Mary Imogene and Franklin Daniel Blackstock in Atlanta, Georgia on February 10, 1932. Growing up, he attended schools in Ohio, Argentina, Brazil, and Sweden, He graduated from high school at the Georgia Military Academy. Dan attended Tulane University, where he received his BA and law degree. Daniel entered the army upon graduation and was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs where he met Betsy Dern, his future wife. Dan and Betsy had two children, Robert Jackson of New York City, NY, and Elizabeth Anne (Jill) of Ontario, NY. After leaving the military, Dan was employed by Humble Oil and worked in Texas, Southern California, and was later transferred to Chico, where the family settled. He was Deputy District Attorney of Butte County, and later became the County Council for Butte County. After fifteen years, he went into private practice and remained active in the legal arena until recently. Dan was a very loving and caring husband and father,and had many friends who will all miss him greatly. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betsy, his children Jack (Susanne) and Jill (George), and three grandchildren, Tucker Daddis, & Esme & Beaureguard Blackstock.
