ELDORA MINTO A funeral service will be held for Eldora Geneva Minto on Saturday, August 16 at 2 p.m. at the Durham Community United Methodist Church and a graveside service on Sunday, August 17 at the Eagleville Cemetery. She passed away at home on Friday, August 8, 2014. Eldora was born on August 24, 1921 in Sacramento Ca, to Alfred and Golda Whipple. She was the youngest of six children. She attended Chico State lettering in Field Hockey and graduating with and elementary teaching credential in 1943. Miss Whipple was subsequent-ly hired as a teacher in Eagleville, Ca., Modoc County. While teaching there she met and married a local rancher, Robert Minto, on July 23rd, 1944. They were married for 62 years until his death in Sept. of 2006. The family moved to Shasta County in 1956 where she taught at Bush Bar and Mont-gomery Creek. In 1961 the family moved to Chico where she taught school until 1976. In 1965 the family purchased a home in Durham. Eldora was a devout Christian, active in each community Church that she resided in. She very much enjoyed family and friends and in her last month was thrilled to be part of two family reunions. Eldora is survived by four sons, David of Fairbanks Alaska, Don and wife Lea of Corning, Jim and Anita of Durham, and Ralph and Sherry of Stonyford. Eldora had eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brusie Funeral Home.
