Francisco (Frank) Luera Obituary
FRANCISCO (FRANK) LUERA Francisco (Frank) Luera was born January 29, 1926 to Domingo Luera and Petra Sanchez Luera in National City, CA.. Frank journeyed on to new shores with his Lord June 7, 2014 surrounded by those he loved. After four years a survivor, he lost a valiant fight to cancer at the age of 88. 'Franco' came to Oroville in the early 1980's where he met and married his love Mary Shouse who proceded him in death in 2003. Frank's incredible array of trades took him to an early apprenticeship in blacksmithing in his teenage years to trying his hand as a Shrimp boat owner, heavy construction and many other "Jack of all trades" before he found his true calling as a most noteable Concrete Mason throughout the state of California. He was still pouring and supervising concrete jobs until 2013. Frank's time in the Merchant Marines earned him an Honorary mem-bership with VFW Post 1747, Oroville, CA. He was a 35+ year member of F.O.E. 196, Oroville, CA and a lifetime member of Oroville Moose Lodge #519. He was a man of faith and was baptized into and attended The Calvary Christian Fellow-ship Church in Oroville, CA. 'Franco' and Mary loved their property in Palermo where they raised fruits and vege-tables for all. He was an exellent gardener and cook famous for his authentic tamales. He loved music and dancing and getting 'his people' together. Franco's New Years Day Menudo and Birthday festivities will be cherished forever. Frank is survived by his sisters Josie, Jennie, Elvira, and Nena. Sons Frank and David. Daughters Patricia, Cecilia, Mary Magdalina, Cheryl and daughter of the heart Jeri. Many grandchildren, nieces and nephews, a special place in his heart for niece Lapita, and many friends who supported him through good times and bad. (You know who you are.) Services will be held at 'The Property' at a later date with reception to follow at VFW Post 1747, Oroville, CA.
