JAMES ROBERT "JIM" PINKERT James Robert "Jim" Pinkert passed away on March 20, 2013 in Chico, CA. Jim was born March 5, 1944 to Raymond and Irene Pinkert of Reedsburg, WI. He received his bachelor's degree from Valparaiso University in 1967 and his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1972. He had a great passion for teaching and held teaching positions as a junior high school teacher and as a professor at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and from 1977 to 2001 at California State University, Chico. He retired from teaching in 2001. He is survived by his wife, Diane Johnson of Chico, his brother John "Jack" Pinkert (Laurie), nephews Christopher and David (Jocelyn and son Rowan) and niece Emily all of Wisconsin. At his request, there will be no local services. His ashes will be spread at the family summer home at Pioneer Lake in Conover, WI. Donations can be made to general scholarship funds at CSU, Chico or a university of the donor's choice.
