John Reeves Largent Obituary
JOHN REEVES LARGENT John Reeves Largent, 82, died Friday March 14th, 2014 from lung cancer. Known by most as Jack, he was born October 9, 1931 in Newton, Iowa, and later moved to Denver, Colorado. He joined the Navy just after his 18th birthday and served on the USS Valley Forge as a Boatswain Mate for four years. After his time in the Navy, he went to UCLA where he received his BS in Electronic Engineering. He later got his Masters in Mathematics from Oregon State. Jack moved with his family to Chico in 1966 where he taught math at Pleasant Valley High School for 10 years. After teaching, he dabbled in a few jobs until he started his own construction company, JRL Construction. After retiring he lived in Nova Scotia, Canada until 2012. He then moved back to California and lived in Borrego Springs until this year, when he lived in Chico. Jack loved playing tennis and golf, hunting, going camping and fishing. Jack is survived by his son, Brent Largent of Chico; his daughter Carine Nelson (Steve); and grandchildren, Amanda and Alex Nelson, all of Chico; his sister Barbara Stotts, of Texas; and his faithful dog, Hans, along with many more family & friends.
