LORRAINE M. HALBACH A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, for Lorraine M. Halbach, 93, of Vacaville, who died peacefully Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Buck Serenity Home in Vacaville of natural causes. The 3 p.m. service will be conducted by Pastor Mark Wright at the Community Presbyterian Church, 427 Hemlock St., in Vacaville. A native of Austin, MN, Mrs. Halbach came to California as a child, and grew up in the small town of Durham just outside of Chico. After graduating from Merritt Business School in Oakland, in 1942, she married her husband of 70 years, Herman C. Halbach, who passed away in 1987 after a long illness. They retired to Leisure Town in Vacaville in 1975. Mrs. Halbach worked as a secretary for 26 years for the Oakland School District, Pacific Gas and Electric Co. in the East Bay and on the Feather River, the Army Corp of Engineers stationed at Camp Stoneman in Pittsburg, CA, and the Mt. Diablo Unified School District in Concord before retiring. She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and active in Leisure Town activities. Mrs. Halbach was known best for her passion for music. She was a gifted accompanist and never said no when asked to share her talents at Church, Leisure Town, or in the community. She is survived by her son, Herman C. Halbach III of Port Angeles; her daughter, Carolyn Douglas of Vacaville; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
