MARTIE CHAMBLESS Martie Chambless peacefully departed this life on July 14, 2014. She was born August 22, 1923 in Oklahoma to Homer Hadden and Ola Roberts. Martie attended schools in Oklahoma and moved to California to attend UCLA where she majored in English and pledged Chi Omega sorority. In 1945, she married the love of her life and best friend, Clayton Chambless. They moved to Chico in 1955 where they raised their three children. For over 25 years, Martie was a dedicated teacher who touched the lives of many students. She treasured life-long friendships in the community and valued her memberships with ADK sorority and P.E.O. She was a strong role model in demonstrating unconditional love toward her family. Martie is survived by her children, Scott Chambless, Catherine Sanders (Eldon), and Nancy LaFollette (Jim). She will be missed by her grandchildren Scott Chambless (Amanda), Jesse Chambless, Cody Chambless, Matt Feeney, Nick LaFollette (Nicole), Katie LaFollette Chambers (Ryan), four great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Nancy, and her beloved nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sierra Sunrise Terraces, California Park Rehab, and her nurturing caregivers who assisted her with compassion. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in her name may do so to the in care of the Brusie Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held August 2 at 10:00 at Our Divine Savior Church. A reception will immediately follow at 11:00 in the ODS social hall.
