RICHARD BOCK Richard George Bock was born on January 2,1924 and left the earth surrounded by his loving family on March 15, 2014. Richard Bock was born and raised in Erie, Pa. He was one of five children of Mahlon and Margaret Bock. His love of fishing and the outdoors started in the streams and woods of Pennsylvania. He served in both World War II and the Korean War. After the service, Richard graduated at the top fifth of his class from Penn State University. Upon graduation he began his 41 year career with The General Electric Company. During that time he and his family went from Erie to upstate New York and in 1956 to the "sunshine" state of California. In 1947 Richard met his wife Claire while in Pennsylvania. They married 6 months later. They were married 58 years and together raised seven children and ten grandchildren. His first love was his family and he often called his children the "Jewels in his Crown". He and Claire moved to Paradise Ca. in 2002 where Claire passed away in 2005. His family remained close to him and he filled his days with camping, fishing, traveling, and continued his education. His passion for learning led him to community activities and he joined OLLI (Osher Life Long Learning). While attend-ing classes, he was blessed to find a partner and companion in Jane Etz, to share his interests and his heart. They enjoyed ballroom dancing, hiking biking, and traveling together. After a five year courtship, Richard and Jane were married in January, 2014. Richard also enjoyed music, reading and poetry, reciting many from memory. He observed God's world, and took the time to notice things as simple as the sunlight shining through leaves, cloud formations, and all of nature's beauty. His enthusiasm and joy of living touched many lives. He will live on through the memories and love he left us with. The memorial service for Richard is to be held @ Bidwell Presbyterian Church on Saturday May 3, 2014 @10:00. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to "Cast Hope" which can be made through BP Church.
