ROBERT JOSEPH CURCIO June 16, 2014 Robert Joseph Curcio, 97, was born in Eureka, California, spent early childhood in Mexico City, and came of age in Oakland. It was there he met Evelyn, his future wife. Married in 1942, Robert spent World War II in Europe as a soldier of Patton's Third Army, a veteran of the Battle of the Ardennes. He was thereafter always by Evelyn's side as they raised their three children in the Bay Area and retired happily to the Sierra foothills. A talented and sharply satirical cartoonist since high school, in retirement Bob also became a prolific writer of articles that appeared in various California newspapers. He and Evelyn ultimately moved to Chico, where they have now both ended their days in this world and passed on to eternal life. He is survived by their children, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Tuolumne, where they asked to be buried together.
