Robert R. (Bob) Birdseye Obituary
ROBERT R. (BOB) BIRDSEYE Bob Birdseye 72, of Willows passed away early Tuesday morning, March 18th, due to complications from Crohn's disease. He was born December 22, 1941, in Durham California, where he grew up. Bob earned his Agriculture, Bachelor of Science degree from Chico State University, where he met "the love of his life" Karen I. Staples. They were married in Chico on June 14, 1964. Bob and Karen spent many happy years living and raising their family in Durham and managed their family's almond ranch until moving to Willows, California in 1990. In Willows, he joined the Glenn Co. Mosquito Abatement Dept. and later the Glenn Co. Agriculture Dept. where he worked for 15 years. Upon his retirement from the Ag. Dept., Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, fishing, hunting with his dog Mac, and beekeeping with his son Matt. Bob was much loved and well respected by the many people in his life, and he will be sorely missed. He had an outgoing personality, made friends easily, and always had a story or bit of wisdom to impart to anyone who spent time with him. Bob was very community minded, an active member and officer in the Durham Rotary Club and Parade Committee during his years in Durham. In Willows, he served on the Glenn Co. Mosquito Abatement Board of Directors, most recently as President. Bob is survived by his beloved wife Karen; his children Patty Buskirk (Miles Rogers) of Chico, Robert V. Birdseye of Platteville, CO, Susan Birdseye (Glen Golden) and Matthew Birdseye of Willows; his sisters Paula Jane Smith of Medford OR , Della Stuck of Chico, and Trillis Rulison of Anchorage AK; cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Paula Birdseye; and brother, David Birdseye. A graveside service will be held at the Willows Cemetery, 800 E. Wood St. on Wednesday, March 26th, at 11:00 am, with a memorial reception following at the Elks Lodge in Willows, 150 S. Shasta St. Arrangements are being made with F.D. Sweet & Son Mortuary, Willows CA.
