CHILLICOTHE: Frank E. Schachtele, 81, of Chillicothe, died 11 a. m. Friday, September 20, 2013 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born March 20, 1932, in Chillicothe, to the late Thurman Ignatius and Carolyn Ottman Schachtele.
On June 1, 1963 he married the former Shirley E. Locke, who died May 1, 2010.
Surviving are a daughter, Melissa Bray and fiance Jessie Daniels both of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Hannah, Heidi and Hayden Bray; and a brother, David P. (Mary E.) Schachtele, of Chillicothe.
He was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, John W. and Hazel Schachtele; sisters and brothers-in-law, Eilene Schachtele and Berlyn Stanhope and Ruth Schachtele and William "Bill" Boulger; and sisters, Emma Lou Schachtele and Jo Anne Schachtele.
Frank served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was an Engineer for the B. & O. Railroad, retiring after 48 years of service. He enjoyed the happy hour at the Dock and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in St. Mary Church with Fr. Lawrence Hummer Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the WARE FUNERAL HOME where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m.
