CHILLICOTHE: James A. "Lovey" Lovensheimer, Jr., 75, of Chillicothe, died November 21, 2013, at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born February 7, 1938 in Ross Co. to the late Albert and Evelyn Cross Lovensheimer. On September 27, 1958 he married Nancy J. Moran, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Cynthia Ann Lovensheimer, Cheryl Lynn Gloyd, and James Gregory (Melissa) Lovensheimer, all of Chillicothe; six grandchildren, Heather Simpson, Ashley Hougland, Nick Lovensheimer, Brie Lovensheimer, Clayton Gloyd, and Delaney Lovensheimer; three great-grandchildren, Brenna Hougland, Korbyn Simpson and Ava Jones; a sister, Carolyn (Burt) Shaffer, a brother, Tom Lovensheimer, both of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Kristy Shaffer. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rosemary Jenkins; and a brother, Marvin Lovensheimer.
"Lovey" retired from Chilpaco in 2001, having served in many capacities in the business office. He was a part time driver for Haller Funeral Home and Haller Ambulance Service. "Lovey" was a US Air Force Veteran and member of the AMVETS Post 4 and the American Legion. He was active and held offices in many organizations including the Union-Scioto School Board, Chillicothe Jaycees, VA Swing Club, Mead Athletic Association, the Ross Co. Conservation League, the Ohio Athletic Officials Association, Gamesmen Inc., the Chillicothe Elks Lodge 52, Mead Foreman's Club, the Ross Co. Veterans Golf League, and the Ross Co. Senior Citizens Center. He was an avid golfer, Browns Backer, football official, and enjoyed announcing ball games with WBEX. He enjoyed volunteering as a driver for the Memorial Golf Tournament and the Wendy's LPGA Golf Tournament. He spent countless hours volunteering his time with several organizations including the VA Golf Course.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday at the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Kurt King officiating. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Springbank Cemetery. Friends may call 2-5 pm Sunday at Haller's. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, Lucasville, OH.
