WAVERLY: John F. Kovacic, Jr., 71, of Waverly, died at 5:47pm Sunday, December 2, 2012, in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born February 22, 1941, in Cleveland, OH, to the late John Frank, Sr. and Veronica "Mickey" (Schick) Kovacic. On October 7, 2000, he married the former Deborah Kay (Williams) Yeary, who survives; also surviving are his daughter, Krissy Kovacic Hiser, Cleveland; son, John F. Kovacic III, Los Angeles, CA; step-son, David (Patricia) Yeary, Jr., Piketon; step-daughters, Tracy (John) Schumacher, Chillicothe, Gina Bianchi; grandchildren: Natalie and Eric Hiser; step-grandchildren: Zachary, Justin and Jessica Schumacher; brother Edward Kovacic, Olmstead Falls, OH; sister, Patricia Walton, Mentor, OH; his mother-in-law, Betty Williams; brother-in-law, Robert (Sharon) Williams, Jr.; sister-in-law, Beth (George) Ransom; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his father-in-law, Robert Williams, Sr.
John was a graduate of Cathedral Latin High School, Class of 1959. He then earned his bachelor's degree from Kent State University and later his master's degree from Case Western Reserve. He retired in 2006 as the director of personnel from Pike Community Hospital. He served his country in the US Marine Corps. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 142, Waverly and St. Peter Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling and golfing and was the Past President of the Pike Co. Rotary Club.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am Friday, December 7, 2012, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 122 Church St., Chillicothe, Rev. William Hahn, Celebrant. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery.
