CHILLICOTHE: Michael S. "Mike" Arledge, 71, of Chillicothe, died 6:37 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born May 17, 1942, in Chillicothe, to Francis and Mary Hopkins Arledge.
Surviving are his mother, Mary Arledge, of Chillicothe; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael S. II and Jennifer Willis Arledge, of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Cherry "Cookie" (Richard) Kaucher, of Iowa and Dottie Anderson; several nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Raymond Wright, of Chillicothe. He was predeceased by his father, Francis Arledge.
Mike served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Boston where he helped to prepare bombs for aircraft. In addition, he was also selected to serve on the Admiral's Yacht which at the time was stationed in Boston. Mike was a Ballroom Dancing Instructor in Boston. He retired from the former McAllister Chevrolet where he had worked as a Mechanic. Mike was a member of AMVETS Post 4 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1626.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Gene Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at Ware's from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
