Michael L. Betts
CHILLICOTHE: Michael L. Betts, 66, of Chillicothe, passed away Sunday November 24, 2013 in Circleville.
Mr. Betts was born in Marion on April 18, 1947. He was one of four children born to the late Myron S. Betts Sr. and Patricia H. Lett Martemus.
Mr. Betts was a 1966 graduate of Marion High School and earned his engineering degree from Devry College, Columbus, Ohio. On July 18, 1966 he enlisted in the United States Army and served until June 30, 1969. After returning to Marion he began working for St. Regis and later West Layco Paper Company, Ohio as a computer engineer.
On September 24, 1988 he married Katrina Seymour. Mrs. Betts survives in their Chillicothe home.
Mr. Betts was a very private man and an independent individual that had strong family values and faith in God.
He is also survived by four children, Julian "J.T." Betts, Melissa (Curtis) Garr, both of Marion, Tetrin Betts, Circleville, Ohio, Brooklyn (Corey) Rivers, Columbus; two brothers, David A. (Robyn) Betts, Montpelier, Indiana, Matthew (Melissa) Betts, Raleigh, North Carolina; two sisters, Wendy D. Martemus and Trina L. Rasheed, both of Cleveland; four aunts, Ruth Ann (Marcell) Mills, Barbara Griffin and Sadie Jones, all of Marion; Alice Simpson, Cleveland, Ohio;
three grandchildren, Brianna Garr, Amaris Betts and Romeo Quito-Betts; a host of nieces and nephews.
He is also preceded in death by one brother, Rev. Myron S. Betts, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held 12:30pm, Monday, December 2, 2013 in Living Water Apostolic Church, 732 S. Pennsylvania, Marion, Indiana. Mr. Betts will be buried at 2pm in Marion National Cemtery, Marion, Indiana. Friends and extended family will be received from 11am until services on Monday, December 2, 2013 in the church.
