Robert "Bob" Elwood age 84, loving husband of Betty Sue passed away peacefully March 4, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Naomi, brothers Lloyd and Ralph, and sister Yvonne. He is survived by brother Vernon (Mary Ann); daughters Debra Jo, Ronda (Jim) Reeves, and Debbie (Mike) Eades; grandchildren Vincent Eades, Jessie Eades, Jill (Bill) Farar, Bradley (Janis) Reeves, Ryan (Brooke) Reeves, Megan (Mike) Johnson, Logan (Kim) Reeves, Jordan Reeves, Trevan (Karalee) Reeves, Jeremy Parker. The arrival of his 20th great grandchild is expected next month. Bob served proudly as a U.S. Marine in the Korean War and was a member of the Korean War Veteran Association and VFW Post 6979. After serving his country he came home to serve his community as a City of Cincinnati Police Officer, attaining the rank of Specialist serving in several districts, the Tactical Unit and Juvenile Division. He was a member of F.O.P. Lodge 69. This tough Marine proved to be a tender caring husband and father, always there for his family. He also had a soft spot in his heart for the family dogs and cats. He leaves behind his beloved dog Sweetie. Bob valiantly fought five battles with cancer and enjoyed life many years longer than expected. In his final days, he was surrounded by his loving family who would like to thank Dr. Grady Campbell, Dr. Alan Safdi, Dr. Olugbenga Olowokure and the staff at Hospice of Cincinnati for their loving, tender care over the years and in his final days. Visitation will be held at the Norwood Christian Church located at 4400 Ashland Ave., Norwood, Mon. Mar. 10 at 1pm with funeral service to follow at 2pm. Burial with military honors will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Honor Flight of Dayton Inc. or Hospice of Cincinnati. www.springgrove.org
