Adrian Lodell Vannice

Asheville - Adrian Lodell Vannice, a baptized child of God, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 19, 2012.

Mr. Vannice was born in Crawfordsville, IN on November 18, 1929 to the late Clyde and Dessie Elmore Vannice. He was also preceded in death by his brother Richard Vannice.

Adrian was a Veteran of the United States Air Force where he served in Tripoli, North Africa and San Antonio, Texas. He attended Wabash University in Indiana, graduated from Purdue University, attended Syracuse University and obtained his MBA Degree from Michigan State University. He spent most of his working career with the Kroger Company where he started as an apprentice meat cutter, served as Vice President of Grocery Merchandising and retired as Vice President of Manufacturing. After his retirement in 1986 from Kroger, Adrian served as a consultant to the Food Industry. He and his wife, Joan, are residents of Sanibel Island, Florida and spent the summers in Asheville at Givens Estates. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Myers, Fl.

Mr. Vannice is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Crouse Vannice; a son, Jon Vannice and his wife, Patti of Asheville; a daughter, Kristal Klehfoth and her husband John, of Elkhart, IN and four grandchildren, Mark Klehfoth, Elizabeth Klehfoth, Anne Klehfoth and AJ Vannice.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Living Savior Lutheran Church at 301 Overlook Road in Asheville with Reverend Caleb Kurbis officiating.
