Asheville - David Vance Ledford, 63, of Asheville, died July 15, 2013, at home after a long courageous fight. He was a warrior! Peace at last surrounds him, no more pain to bear.
David was born in Asheville on April 20, 1950, to Everett Lee Ledford and Beatrice Taylor Ledford. He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 40 years, Nancy Lynn Thompson Ledford, daughter, Heather Ledford Miraflor/Jose, and son, Brandon Vance Ledford/Marisa. He adored his grandchildren, Addison and Gigi Miraflor, and was looking forward to the birth of one in August. Sisters, Betty Silver, Priscilla Boone, Brenda Johnson, brother, Richard Ledford, 25 nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and their children as well. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Everett and Billy Ledford, and grand-daughter Gabby.
David served in the Navy, and graduated from AB-Tech. He went on to work for ABC Control for almost 38 years, where he was operational manager.
David will long be remembered as a man of integrity, who valued honesty, kindness and generosity. He was a people person and made friends easily anywhere he went. He loved to play golf, watch western and war movies, gamble, work in the yard, and tinker around the house.
A memorial service will be Sunday, July 21st at Montmorenci Methodist Church in Candler, at 5:00 pm, followed by visitation in the fellowship hall. Burial will be Monday, July 22nd, at 12:00 pm in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.
