Donald G. Emory

Weaverville, NC - Donald G. Emory, 67, of 10 Charcoal Road, died peacefully and unexpectedly at his home Thursday, May 29, 2014. He is the son of the late Clarence and Margie Emory, and the widow of Amanda F. Emory, who passed away in 1999.

Don was born on March 6, 1947 in Buncombe County, where he retired from Ingles Markets after working there 30+ years. He was an Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He attended Mt. Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. Don loved lighthouses, the beach, history, oldies, classic cars, working outside, his Bible, the good Lord above, and he got to go on his dream trip out west last year. He was a wonderful Christian man.

He is survived by his daughters, Marissa Emory Coffey and Lori Emory, both of Weaverville, and Dara Emory of Chicago, Illinois; grandsons, Ryan Austin Coffey, Christian Jacob Coffey, Mason Taylor Emory; great-granddaughter, Emerie Skye Coffey; brother, Gary J. Emory of Weaverville; and girlfriend of eight years, Ann T. Workman.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, at Mt. Bethel Free Will Baptist Church, 290 Sheppard Branch Road, Weaverville, NC 28787. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church. Reverend Phillip Emory and Reverend Mike Thomas will officiate. Donations and flowers are appreciated and may be made to Mt. Bethel Freewill Baptist Church.
