Leigh Fadden
Asheville - Dr. Leigh Fadden of Givens Estates, Asheville, NC died peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the age of 88. Born in Fulton, NY, son of Lee Fadden and Ester Rogers Fadden, he attended Cornell University, received his DDS degree from the University of Buffalo, and a Master of Science Degree, specializing in Dentistry for Children, from the University of Michigan.
He served in the US Navy Dental Clinic in Washington DC as a Lieutenant Commander from 1954 to 1956.
He was the first to practice pediatric dentistry in Rochester. While living in Rochester, he presided as the President of the Monroe County Dental Society, President of the local Kiwanis Club and served as Vice President of the City's Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Fadden was also a deacon and active member of the Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church.
Leigh and his wife Esther moved to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina in 1978. He then opened the first practice of dentistry for children on Hilton Head Island in 1972. He became a favorite of the children on the island as he traveled to schools with his puppet, "Harry Hilton" to teach proper dental health to the children.
After living on Hilton Head Island for 27 years, Leigh and his wife moved to Asheville, NC in 2005. Leigh, a loving, devoted husband for 44 years, is survived by his wife, Esther (Dalrymple) Fadden; his loving sons, Patrick and wife Karen (Boston, Mass), R. Scott and wife Irene (Edison, Washington); daughters, Sandra (Bethlehem, PA), Bonnie Rose and husband Jerry (Collierville,TN), eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to honor Leigh's life will be held at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank the staff of the Memory Care Facility at Givens Estate for the loving care extended to Leigh and his family and also thank the staff at Givens Health Care Center where Leigh was a patient for two and a half years for their loving care extended to Leigh and his family.
