Max Steve Rhodes

Raleigh, NC - Max Steve Rhodes, 83, departed this life on March 5, 2014 in Rex Hospital, where his older sister, Louise, passed away just 5 hours before him.

Max was born in Buncombe County, NC on March 18, 1930 to William A. and Minnie Rhodes. He graduated from Western Carolina in 1955. He was a veteran of the Korean War. In 1958, he led Valley Springs High School to the Class A Championship. Max was the head soccer coach at NCSU from 1964-1979. He retired from NCSU in 1995. Max was a long time member of the NCSU Faculty Club, where he was an avid golfer and swimmer.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 pm on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 S.E. Maynard Rd., Cary, NC 27511. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday, March 10, 2014 at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27612.
