Arledge

Candler - William Rucker Arledge, age 98, passed away on February 10th, 2014, at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was predeceased by his wife, Inez Wilson Arledge in 1979.

Mr. Arledge served in the US Navy during WWII. He retired from Sears in 1979 after over 20 years of service. Mr. Arledge was a member of Acton United Methodist Church for 54 years where he served in many capacities including Lay Speaker and Sunday School Superintendant. He was also a long time member of the Biltmore Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Arledge is survived by a daughter Jayne Arledge from Traveler's Rest, SC, a son Bill Arledge (Melissa) from Mills River, two grandsons Will Arledge (Marian) from Asheville, and Curt Arledge (Lauren) currently residing in Chapel Hill. He also has one surviving brother, Fred Arledge, of Houlton, Maine, and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at Acton Methodist Church, with Rev. Warren Owens officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Mr. Arledge's honor may be made to Acton Methodist Church, 171 Sand Hill Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.
