Charles "Chuck" Cherundolo, 96, of Lakeland, Fla. and formerly of Old Forge, one of the founding fathers of the National Football League, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012. His wife, the former Margaret Ellen Whitehead, died in 1985.

His football career brought him to play and coach for the Cleveland Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins and Chicago Bears.

Surviving are children, Patricia Ann Cherundolo, Lakeland, Fla.; and John Cherundolo, Syracuse, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by siblings, John Cherundolo, Vera Sindico, and Rosella Phillips.

The funeral will be at 9:15 a.m. Monday from the Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge, with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church (Prince of Peace Parish), Old Forge.
