Charlie S. Tramontana, 62, a longtime resident of Pittston, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, in his home.

Charlie was born Oct. 1, 1951, in Washington, D.C., where he was adopted by Sammy and Angie Tramontana and moved to Pittston. He graduated from Pittston Area High School in 1969.

Charlie served in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant in the Security Police Law Enforcement field. After the Air Force, Charlie studied law enforcement at Luzerne County Community College, and at Louisiana State University in Lafayette, La. He served in many cities as a police officer before he was head injured in the line of duty as an Ocean City police officer. Several years after the injury, Charlie became an LPN, licensed practical nurse, and traveled across the country with nursing agencies.

After the passing of both parents, Charlie moved back to Pittston, where he later retired. Charlie enjoyed dressing up and volunteering at Gravestone Manor and traveling to Renaissance festivals.

Charlie is survived by his sister, Bonnie Lynch; his children, Sam Tramontana, Shannon Tramontana, Zachary Tramontana, Morgan Tramontana, Matthew Tramontana and Adrianna Tramontana; and his grandchildren, Kyle, Angelina, Katlyn, Kaiden and Samantha. Also surviving are a nephew and numerous cousins.

Services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township.

Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday. A Blessing service, officiated by the Rev. Joseph Sibilano, OSJ, will be held at the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Those wishing to attend the service should be at the funeral no later than 2 p.m.
