Chester (Chet) John Dragon Sr., 83, of Harveys Lake passed away unexpectedly at home Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012.

Mr Dragon was born April 14, 1929, in Luzerne, and was the son of the late Peter and Mary Okraszewski Dragon. He was an outstanding football player and graduate of Luzerne High School.

He worked for the Blue Ribbon Bakery for 16 years until the closing due to the Agnes flood. He then worked as a carpenter until his retirement.

He was a Korean conflict veteran and attained the rank of sergeant while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He earned a Bronze Star with a "V" device for valor, Navy Occupation Medal, U.N. Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with three clusters, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars of Post 283, Kingston, and was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake.

He was an avid sports fan, particularly football and basketball, and enjoyed hunting.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, the former Carolyn Wheatley, in 1984, the beloved mother of his three children. His second wife of eight years, the former Frances Beeunas, preceded him in death in 1995. His third wife of 12 years, the former Catherine Ratkaj Koval, preceded him in death in 2008. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Leo Dragon, and sister, Helen Petroski.

Surviving are his children, Chester Dragon Jr. and Debbie, Huntington Mills; Paul Dragon and his wife, Denise, Trucksville; and Maria Davis and her husband, Keith, Harrisburg; grandchildren, Dane and Derek Davis, Tyler, Jacob and Alyssa Dragon; brother, Peter Dragon, of Harveys Lake; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Thursday from Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. from Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake, with the Rev. Daniel Toomey officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Victory Church, RR 1, P.O. Box 309, Harveys Lake, PA 18618.
